Living with the Avenger: My Long-Term Review

2024-02-155 min read

My first motorcycle, and one that will always have a special place in my memories, the Bajaj Avenger was with me for years and through countless kilometres. During my time with it, I came to appreciate what it was really built for—a comfortable, relaxed ride that could keep going for long distances without tiring you out.

The Heart of the Avenger

The Avenger is a motorcycle that makes you slow down and enjoy the ride. It is an especially good choice for beginners as well as motorcycle enthusiasts who want a simple, comfortable cruiser.

What stood out most to me was how easy it was to live with. The riding position made long rides comfortable, and I rarely experienced the kind of back pain that can come with spending hours on some other motorcycles. Even in the city, you get that relaxed cruiser feeling—you sit back, feel comfortable, and simply enjoy the ride.

A True Mile Muncher

For me, this was where the Avenger really shined.

It was a great cruiser and a genuine mile muncher. Long-distance rides felt natural rather than exhausting, and the bike encouraged me to keep riding. Whether it was a highway journey or simply travelling around the city, comfort was always one of its biggest strengths.

It was my first bike, so I built a lot of memories and covered so many kilometres on it. Every long ride added another reason for me to become attached to the motorcycle.

Cheap and Easy to Maintain

Another thing I appreciated during my ownership was the reasonable cost of parts and maintenance. Compared with its competitors at the time, keeping the Avenger running was relatively affordable.

That made a big difference for me as an owner. It was a bike I could actually use regularly without constantly worrying about expensive maintenance or parts.

More Than Just a Motorcycle

Owning the Avenger also gave me something I didn't expect—a connection with the motorcycle community.

I became part of the FLGONE riding group, and riding with other people turned the bike into much more than just a way to get from one place to another. Some of my best riding memories came from those group rides and the people I met along the way.

Why I Finally Sold It

Selling the Avenger wasn't because I stopped liking it.

In fact, that was probably the hardest part.

I eventually sold it because I wanted a motorcycle that I could run every day and maintain properly, especially after upgrading to another bike. I felt that it was better to let the Avenger go rather than keep it without giving it the use and care it deserved.

Even after moving on to another motorcycle, the Avenger remains one of the bikes I remember most fondly.

It was my first bike, my cruiser, my mile muncher, and the motorcycle that introduced me to a whole riding community. I covered countless kilometres on it and made memories that will stay with me for a long time. The Avenger will always be a bike I remember.
